First, log into your account. Then go to the Dashboard screen by clicking on the Dashboard link on the top menu. On the left side of the Dashboard, hover over “Posts”, then click on “Add New”. This will take you to the Add New Post screen.
Supply a title for your post. Decide on how you want to title your product post. The most effective ones are either the product name and brand (for example, “Dragon Touch 7″ Android Tablet”), or common descriptive name for the product (Capacitive Android Tablet), or a combination of both. Be descriptive, but be short and sweet!
Add the product description. Do not copy and paste from the product page of another site! Use your own words to describe the product and why you think it is cool. Think of it as advice for a friend shopping for a gift. We require a minimum of 100 words. There is no maximum word count.
We suggest you ignore the buttons at the top of this box for now. You can experiment on those later. The product description box does not support URL linking. All links will be stripped during post submission.
Last but not least, please check out the Whyrll Not list of no-no products that you should stay clear from if you haven’t done so. We wouldn’t want your efforts to be wasted because you violated our product guidelines.
Find the Affiliate Link Box, then paste your affiliate link URL there. If you are not a member of any affiliate program, check our guide on how to sign up for one.
You can use any affiliate link from any affiliate program that you are a part of. You can also link directly to a product page, if you own the product or store. The Affiliate Link field is required.
The Featured Image field is yet another required field. Whyrll is a very visual site so choose your Featured Image carefully as it will also be used as the thumbnail image on the homepage.
We recommend uploading an image that is at least 640 x 640 pixels. Accepted image formats are JPG, PNG and GIF. There is a maximum image size of 1024 x 1024 pixels. Larger images will be automatically scaled to meet this limit.
We also recommend images that are squarish. Very wide images don’t look good on the Whyrll homepage while very tall images look a bit odd on the product page.
If you have uploaded the Featured Image correctly, you will see a thumbnail of the image.
If the wrong image has been uploaded or if you want to change the image, just click on “Remove featured image” and upload a new image.
There are a few optional fields in the Editor. The YouTube video field and the Slider Gallery field are optional features that you can add to your post.
To add a YouTube video, find a suitable video of the product YouTube, copy the unique tag found on the YouTube video URL (example, HIrMIeN5ttE) and paste it into the Format Video YouTube Box.
This is how a post with a YouTube video looks like.
The Slider Gallery box lets you add more product images to the post. The images are added to a thumbnail gallery that is located under the Featured Image. Upload multiple images by clicking the “Select or Upload Images” button. The image upload process is similar to uploading the Featured Image. It should look like the screenshot below once uploaded.
This is how a post with a Slider Gallery looks like.
And if you have both Slider Gallery and YouTube video, this is how the post looks like.
In the Categories Box, select the appropriate categories for the post. You may choose multiple categories.
On the Tags Box, add appropriate keywords to help others find your post.
You can preview your Whirl to see how it looks like when it is actually published by clicking on the “Preview” button on the upper right. On the left of the “Preview” button is the “Save Draft” button. This button saves your current work and lets you continue working on your post at a later time. It is good practice to save often.
Once you are happy with how your Whirl look and feel, click “Submit for Review” (if you are a new Contributor) or “Publish” (if you are have been promoted to Author). Submissions that require a review will be reviewed by Whyrll administrators by the next working day.
