Laurel Burch Dog Tote

This vibrantly colored tote bag, designed by San Francisco artist Laurel Burch, can also double as a large purse. Burch died in 2007, but her creations live on. One of her favorite topics was cats, as the website that features her licensed creations has a Fantastic Felines gallery. However, the design seen above is one is a Burch rare dog theme.

The tote bag measures 18 by 15-inches. It would make a great gift for a dog lover or a Laurel Burch fan, as this remarkable woman’s fame continues to grow, even after her death.

Her story is one of triumph over adversity. According to her website, she had a difficult home life as a child, and ran away as a young teenager. She had no means to support herself, and she also suffered from a debilitating bone disease. After settling in San Francisco, she met many new friends and her artwork flourished.
