Registering for an Affiliate Account

Affiliate Marketing 101

Now that you have decided to try your luck at being an affiliate marketer, you may need some help in signing up for an affiliate marketing (or publisher) account and also on deciding on which affiliate program fits you best. Things that you have to consider when deciding on which programs to sign up with include:

  • What type of products does the affiliate program offer?
  • How you get paid as an affiliate member/publisher?
  • Are there geographical, nationality or language restrictions?
  • Do you need your own website to sign up as a member?

Product Type

There are all kinds are products sold online ranging from physical products to digital products to services. For the moment, Whyrll is limiting products to just physical products. The reason for this is that we do not want our pages to be filled with spam or dubious services and having this limitation helps us better manage the quality of our postings.

So if you are looking for an affiliate program to sign up with, make sure they offer physical products.

Getting Paid

It is pointless for you to earn as an affiliate but not being able to get paid. There are many ways for an affiliate program to pay their members earned commissions. Some of the most common methods include direct account debit, check, voucher or store credit. Some companies offer multiple methods and you can select the best option for you. If you are not based in the same country as the affiliate company, make sure that there is an acceptable method of being paid.

Always read the fine print carefully. For example, some companies charge a fee for issuing checks. Others have a high minimum payout that zeroes out if you do not reach the minimum payout within a time period. Do your homework!

Restrictions

Again, always read the fine print to make sure you are eligible to be an affiliate. Some affiliate programs may restrict members to certain countries or states. There may be other restrictions such as the language of the website content or the age of the member. Whyrll restricts all posts to English for monitoring purposes.

If you are unsure, always ask before signing up.

Website Requirement

Some affiliate programs may require publishers to have their own website. Since Whyrll members share the same website, you will not be able to fulfill this requirement. If you have your own blog and the affiliate program allows it, you may sign up for an account using your own website and use the account on Whyrll.

Certain affiliate programs may require you to submit a website or URL for vetting purposes but does not require the member to own the site. You may submit the Whyrll.com URL for this purpose but it is up to the affiliate programs to accept or not.

If the affiliate program requires you to upload some code for site ownership verification, we cannot help you as a contributor, you will have no access to the site to upload verification codes.

List of Recommended Affiliate Programs

To make it easier for newcomers, we have prepared a list of recommended affiliate programs that you should be able to sign up with. These programs have no restrictions on required website and also international members. Please note that Whyrll is not in any way affiliated with any of these sites. Our recommendation is strictly based on the fact that these programs currently have terms and conditions that are a good fit for our members. However, these terms and conditions may change at any time.

  • Amazon Associates – The biggest online marketplace on the internet with over a million products. If you have a product to recommend, chances are high that you will be able to find it on sale at Amazon.
  • CJ Affiliate – Formerly Commission Junction. CJ Affiliate is a global network in affiliate marketing. It is made up of thousands of individual affiliate programs that you can sign up for individually. What makes CJ really attractive is that it  consolidates all your commissions into a single account so that you can reach the payment threshold easily.
  • Shareasale.com – Similar to CJ Affiliate.
  • Fancy.com – Offers many interesting products but currently only pays affiliate members with credit that can be used to purchase items from the website. Very easy to sign up. All registered members are automatically affiliate members.
